ARTEFACT 4 - Marked work

This artefact is examples of my students work from my first prac. The Year 9 revision test, and a Live Sound  Quiz that i gave my CMU class.

This relates to the standard as i consistently kept up to date with marking and assessing my students work in the experience i had as a pre-service teacher.

ARTEFACT 3 - Proposal Task

This artefact is a work example of a group of students. The task was to write a proposal for a song that the students had to write and produce. The students had to propose what the song was going to be about, what instruments included and how they will be played.

This relates to the 3rd Professional Standard of:

3. Design and implement intellectually challenging learning experiences

The reason this relates to this standard is because this encourages to use their own interests in an intellectual way and use knowledge they already know into a task that they would find difficult.

ARTEFACT 2 - LESSON PLAN (Rhythm Dictations)

This artefact is a lesson plan (Year 9 Period 4 Thursday 27th May 35 mins). This lesson i needed to teach the year 9 students the idea of a "One Drop" which means, in a bar of 4 beats, the first beat is not played or is dropped, hence "One Drop"

2.    Design and implement learning experiences that develop language, literacy and numeracy

This is implementing numeracy by using the mathematics of music and explaining rhythms with numbers, the lesson also incorporates literacy and numeracy as the students are learning terms and words that they would have never heard and expanding their knowledge and vocabulary.

ARTEFACT 1 - Live Sound Booklet

This artefact is a "Live Sound Booklet" that i created for a Creative Music Understanding Class (yr 11 & 12). This subject i got to choose the content, therefore i decided to teach the students about how to set up a P.A. System and Microphones etc. 


This relates to the 1st professional standard of:
1.    Design and implement engaging and flexible learning experiences for individuals and groups.  


In this booklet the first activity is to (as a team) set up a P.A. system together as a class. This is an engaging lesson as the students had a hands on experience with learnings that could benefit these young musicians careers.

MY PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING

The challenges confronting schooling in the 2000s are diverse and numerous. Australian culture is clearly challenging many of the values and practices of the past and yet searching for continuing values that are core to our society.

The need for these values, highlights the importance of an understanding of tradition, teaching and culture. An ongoing commitment to the development of values in the whole school community takes centre place in the growth dimension of the school.

Working in partnership with the Principal, Assistant Principal and Coordinators, offering a network of learning opportunities, promoting community celebration with parents, fosters the development of a rich curriculum that maintains traditions and rites, and are all integral in addressing the current challenges.

As a teacher, knowledge of curriculum, management and organisational skills, reporting and assessment are key facets in the educational achievements of school life. Ensuring Professional development opportunities are utilised and built upon, affirms and empowers professionalism in abilities and skills and most recent pedagogy.

Classroom teaching must demonstrate excellence. It is also essential to be innovative, flexible and creative in all educational endeavours, continually striving to reach expectations and goals. Getting students enthusiastic about social justice issues and involving them in making a difference to people’s lives around the world plays an important part in today’s educational vision. These skills maximise opportunities for all students to become independent learners - a life long skill.

Education is about successfully managing change. Technology continues to progress at a rapid speed and teachers have a duty to access and embrace technology in all its forms to produce even better results in curriculum areas.

Cooperating and collaborating with staff, students and parents, uses many interpersonal skills in many different ways. Being open and honest, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism can help to establish strong decision making. Clear communication is an essential skill that is important in forging a strong link in creating a healthy school environment.

Therefore, it is an educator’s role to ensure that the material they teach is taught in a manner that enables each student to learn to their full potential catering for different learning styles. The national curriculum highlights national teaching standards for the first time, an exciting time in education, and one in which teachers should embrace to ensure the changes are implemented successfully.
